This eight-episode drama will release three episodes on March 25th on Apple TV, then release one episode every Friday until April 29th. Media Res produced the drama, while Korean-American Soo Hugh, who oversaw season one of the AMC anthology The Terror, penned the scripts. Pachinko, beginning in Korea in the early 1900s, is drawn through the eyes of a strong woman, Sun Ja, who overcomes all adversity. The plot then intersects with the story of Solomon, the grandson of Sun Ja, in the 1980s.
Kogonada will direct four episodes, including the pilot, and serve as an executive producer. Justin Chon will also direct four episodes, exec producing the ones he helms. Hugh will executive produce with Kogonada; Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer for Media Res; Theresa Kang-Lowe for Blue Marble Pictures; and Richard Middleton.
